The Longmont Humane Society held its 19th Annual Ella’sWalk today, Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Ella’s Walk is a family-friendly event, promoting the bond between people and animals by honoring the life of Meredith Hope Emerson.

The main event and focus of the day is fundraising pledges raised by Walk participants, especially groups of friends, family, neighbors and co-workers who form Packs (or teams) that will be competing in the Pack Challenge to see who will raise the most money for the animals in their care. Through support and sponsorship, LHS hopes to raise a goal of $5,000 from the day’s events to care for the over 5,000 animals who use its facility for care and in hopes of adoption.

The Walk itself is a gentle 3-mile from Boulder County Fairgrounds Picnic Shelter through Rogers Grove to the first Golden Pond and back.

Participants were encouraged to stay for The Furry Friends Festival, which began at return time with demonstrations, live music, brunch, and pet-friendly merchants along Mutt Main Street at the Boulder County Fairgrounds.
