Elizabeth Taylor's costume jewelry and MsBellezza's Catherine Potgieter

Atlanta, GA women may have aspired to be like Elizabeth Taylor throughout the years, donning jewels that might have rivaled the White Diamonds female fatale collection, but they probably didn't guess that Hollywood's Grand Dame had her own share of costume jewelry.

MsBellezza, the company founded by Catherine Potgieter, specializes in costume jewelry that looks like the real McCoy, using intricate metals and beadwork as well as semi-precious stones and Swarovski crystals, such as her fluttering ring.

Potgieter can boast a life of international travel and social occassions befitting women like Taylor, even residing in the same state as the recently deceased AIDS supporter purported to own $150 million in jewelry. But the MsBellezza founder is also very familiar with the average woman -- and her need for astounding-looking jewels at a fraction of the cost.

Catherine Potgieter has made it her mission to introduce American women to the beauty of exceptional jewelry at a price they can afford. Like her working woman counterparts, Potgieter sought to mix and mingle with corporate and professional elite on a limited budget. She favored De Beers jewels (and those that looked like them), but she also knew such expenses can't be sustained forever -- or at all by some. Hence, Potgieter set about designing and marketing jewelry that she would wear, like her gemstone bracelet befitting Taylor.

Check out MsBellezza Jewelry pictures in the slideshow to the left of this article for a glimpse into the attainable world of another California woman: Catherine Potgieter. And remember -- Elizabeth Taylor had costume jewelry too, according to CBS News.

Atlanta women can obtain MsBellezza Jewelry by hosting their own MsBellezza party, earning them $100 in free jewelry or towards a particular piece in the collection. Email party @ msbellezza.com for more details so you can get 'the girls' together and take home some outstanding jewelry of your own.
