“The Young & the Restless” viewers will have yet another cast departure to brace for, as a rumor has now become a reality. On March 13 Soap Opera Digest confirmed that Elizabeth Hendrickson, who has played Chloe for the past six years, is leaving “Y&R.”
Hendrickson shared a statement about her departure with SOD. She says, “it is with a grateful heart” that she is confirming the rumors are true. She thanks her fans for standing by her over all these years, noting that their “dedication has been unwavering.” Why is the actress leaving “The Young & the Restless”? She says, “I need to stretch my wings and fly into the unknown.”
While "The Young & the Restless" fans have been very vocal over the past few months about the multiple cast departures from “Y&R,” Hendrickson notes that “This was a very amicable parting of ways.” She says that this is not a goodbye for forever, and the door will be left open for Chloe to return. The character of Chloe will be on-air until sometime in May.
What does Elizabeth Hendrickson plan to do next? She didn't detail any specifics, but she said she hopes to see fans again soon “Maybe in another medium or simply another time slot.” Based on what she says in her statement, it seems that “Y&R” will go the way of writing Chloe out of Genoa City, rather than work on recasting her.
A recast likely would have been a bit rocky for fans right now. Fans already are adjusting to David Tom taking over Billy Abbot, Cady McClain is on the way in for Kelly and a Michael Muhney replacement in the works for Adam Newman. Fans hope this is the end of the changes for now, but one just never knows when it comes to the land of soaps.
Are you sad to see it confirmed that Elizabeth Hendrickson is leaving “The Young & the Restless”?
