Elizabeth Banks shock: Banks in shock over Philip Seymour Hoffman death

Elizabeth Banks is in shock after hearing that her “Hunger Games” co-star Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead from a drug overdose, the actress told the Today Show on Feb. 5.

“I’m still processing it. I really am in shock,” Elizabeth said. Banks, who stars as Effie in the “Hunger Games” films got to know Hoffman who joined the cast for “Catching Fire” as Plutarch Heavensbee.

"He is an absolutely amazing actor, respected by everyone and part of our family at 'The Hunger Games,'" Elizabeth Banks said of her shock over Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death.

"We will miss him terribly, and obviously, (we're) really upset for his children and his partner,” Banks added.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth does have something to look forward to in the wake of her co-star’s death. The actress has been selected to directed the “Pitch Perfect” sequel, which is highly anticipated among fans.

The actress will put on her director’s hat for the upcoming film, which she’ll likely makes a few appearances in as well.
