Things are being shuffled around at Fox News, and Sept. 17 saw the first of several changes taking place. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, formerly of "The View," arrived in her new slot today on "FOX & Friends" with hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade. The rest of the network's changes were confirmed today also according to a Sept. 17 report on the LA Times.
Everything is focused on the return of the network's most popular blonde personality, Megyn Kelly, who gave birth to a baby boy on July 23. When Kelly returns, she will be placed in the coveted 9 p.m. time slot. Everyone else is moving and repositioning to accommodate her reappearance on "The Kelly Files" at its new time. Everyone is moving, that is, except Bill O'Reilly with "The O'Reilly Factor" at 8 p.m.
So, what’s the lineup now? Booted off the early morning couch by Hasselbeck, Gretchen Carlson goes to an afternoon program. Greta Van Susteren leaves her 10 p.m. program and goes to 7 p.m., which she says is a good thing since she will be driving home much earlier. Shepherd Smith, who formerly appeared at 7 p.m., will be heading up a new “Breaking News” department for Fox News. Smith will be breaking in on all programs with serious, traditional anchor news updates.
Of course, O’Reilly stays at 8 p.m. It could be that nobody wanted to be the one to tell him to move.
Sean Hannity leaves his 9 p.m. spotlight and moves to 10 p.m. There were rumors that he was going to be axed from Fox News, so moving to a time slot an hour later is not so bad.
