The past few days, the rumor mill has been insisting that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being asked to exit ‘The View.’ Numerous reports made the same claim stating that she is too “right-winged” for the show, and that some people aren’t watching because of her. The internet had gone as far as to say that she may be replaced by Brooke Shields. Though Shields could indeed still be joining the show, it won't be Hasselbeck's spot that she will be filling. On Mon. Mar. 11, Barbara Walters addressed the topic on the ABC talk show, and put the completely false claims to rest.
“We love Elisabeth,” she said. “We value and appreciate her point of view. It helps give the show perspective. We have no plans for Elisabeth to leave this show.”
Whether or not Elisabeth herself plans to leave the show is another matter, but she certainly isn't being forced to depart. The famously conservative Hasselback has always remained a non-conforming individual who often has to stand alone on TV. She has been married to her college boyfriend, professional football quarterback Tim Hasselbeck since 2002. The mother of 3 is a devout Christian, and has never been afraid to debate on the air. Since the show is indeed called ‘The View’…..keeping her around should make sense, right?
On the other hand, Joy Behar will be leaving ‘The View’ this summer. Behar is voluntarily exiting, and Walters described it as “bittersweet.”
