Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving "The View." Just one day after Joy Behar announced that she was leaving the popular morning talk show, it has been announced that Hasselbeck won't be back either -- after nine seasons. On March 8, Us Weekly reported that this decision wasn't really Elisabeth's choice. Known for expressing her right wing politics, audiences reportedly didn't care for her -- and for this reason, the show chose not to renew her contract.
"The show's resident conservative voice is being ousted after market research revealed that she isn't popular with TV audiences," Us Weekly reported. This may or may not have come as a surprise for Hasselbeck.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving "The View" is somewhat shocking. Although she was controversial (and often got into fights with guests), she was a firecracker and a lot of people actually liked her. However, the people that did like didn't compare to the numbers of non-fans, hence her departure.
"The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing. People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed," a source revealed. Hasselbeck has not commented on the story just yet but an announcement of sorts is expected very soon.
Are you glad Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving "The View"?
