Elisabeth Hasselbeck fired from 'The View' for being too right-wing

Elisabeth Hasselbeck will not return for the next season of “The View,” according to a report at US Weekly on March 8. ABC is said to have recently completed damaging media research on the right-wing television star.

A source at ABC told US Weekly that, “The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing.”

They also added, “People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed.”

Hasselbeck shot to fame as a star on CBS’s “Survivor,” and parlayed that into a gig on “The View” in 2003. She is known to viewers as a strict conservative on social issues, which often puts her at odds with her co-hosts, guests and viewers alike. Elisabeth is married to ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck. When not co-hosting “the View”, Elisabeth is a contributor to ABC’s “Good Morning America.” It is unknown whether her contract for that program would also be dropped.

Elisabeth’s co-host and frequent sparring partner on “The View,” Joy Behar, announced yesterday that she will not be returning in the fall.
