Overland Park, Kansas police are searching for a suspect accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl who was on her way to her bus stop. The girl’s identity has been kept from the public due to the fact she is a minor. The suspect is believed to be a white male, in his 20s. The incident occurred on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the 12400 block of Quivira Road. The suspect is on the loose and authorities are asking the public’s help in locating and identifying him.
According to reports, the young girl walked to her school bus last Friday morning, at approximately 7 am, when a man dressed in all black and wearing a surgical mask approached her. The victim described the attacker has having camouflaged-style, gardening-type gloves on. She believed he had a knife. The man forced the girl into the woods where he sexually assaulted her. The exact nature of the assault has been kept from the public as the victim is a minor, but authorities confirmed the case is a sexual assault and not rape.
One neighbor reported seeing a suspicious man in the area earlier that morning.
The victim was taken to a hospital where she was examined and treated.
