What if you looked up and saw elephants on the interstate? That is exactly what you would have seen on I-70 in Indiana on Thursday evening, Jan. 31, 2013. Fox 59 had the story.
Only four miles away from the multi-vehicle wreck on I-70, this accident involved a single truck that had slid off the road. The elephants were not injured, but they were unloaded while the trailer was removed from its position off the side of the interstate.
These were very well-behaved elephants who were in the care of their trainer the entire time they were in the middle of the road. Were they not in control, these three elephants could have been very dangerous. You can see photographs from the scene here at Fox 59. According to this article:
Officials stressed the pachyderms were not “on the loose at any time,” though initial reports had indicated otherwise.
The elephants were reloaded into the righted truck, and they left the scene.
