The accompanying slide show is an informal representation of the School Library at 13th Avenue Elementary School, in Newark, NJ.
Previously the committee of teachers assigned to enhance the book give-away from the "My Very Own Library" created a winter wonderland. (See my previous article: http://www.examiner.com/article/my-very-own-library-foundation, on "My Very Own Library" and the Foundation for Newark’s Future). For the second of three donations, they have outdone themselves, using a theme from "The Wizard of Oz" at one end of the spacious room, and from Harry Potter's series of adventures at the other. It's hard to imagine a more appealing setting to sit and read some of the many books in the collection, as well as the three books that each child once again got to choose for themselves to take home and to keep. Teachers, you are setting the bar way high! Such transformations are virtually unheard of, and I can't wait to see how you can possibly top this when the third and final give-away comes along. Kudos to all!!
