Captain Gregson’s wife comes home one night to find there is an intruder in her home. This is the first time viewers have gotten a glimpse of Gregson’s home life. It is great to see. He and his wife Sheryl are going through a trial separation. Surprisingly, Sherlock gives Gregson some advice. This is strange but great to see. It’s weird to think that Sherlock has more knowledge on relationships than anyone. Still, it is a nice moment for Sherlock and Gregson to have, and the two of them don’t really have many moments. Their relationship is interesting and intriguing, and anytime the writers choose to show it, it is great. What do you think Captain Gregson should do to try to win back his wife?
As it turns out that Captain Gregson is not the intended target, one of his neighbor is. It is a nice twist that the witness James Munroe is the target and not the killer. He appears on screen for a little bit too long, and so I was definitely thinking that he would be the killer or an accomplice. The fact that he was the intended victim is a nice shock. It is a little hard to follow the motives of the murder, but it is nice that the case is not what it initially appears to be. Did you enjoy the case?
Sherlock doesn’t seem to understand that Watson takes on cases by herself in order to hone her skill. He solves one of her cases without consulting her. In order to try to make up for that, he gives her a chest filled with cases he couldn’t solve. The writers have done a great job developing Watson and Sherlock’s relationship. This episode shows that Sherlock trusts Watson enough with these cases and that he believes that she could find something he missed. Would you like to see an episode featuring one of these cold cases where Watson uncovers something?
