“The Red Team” is the newest episode of Elementary. If you have yet to see the episode, beware of spoilers! To review the last case file, click here. Elementary airs a new episode right after the Super Bowl on CBS (KHOU).

One of Sherlock’s conspiracy nut friends is found dead. Unfortunately, not much time is spent on Sherlock’s relationship with the victim. There are a couple passing comments, but overall it feels like a missed opportunity. Things could have been a lot funnier if there were more scenes or at least more of a scene with Sherlock and a conspiracy theorist, like Gary who falsely confessed to the murder. Some interesting debates could have been had. Speaking of Gary, there never really was a wrap up to his confession. Did he just all of a sudden believe he did it or what? Did I miss the explanation? Other than that, the case is entertaining. Sherlock interrogating army intelligence officers that are currently interrogating him is just hilarious. Did you enjoy the case?

Sherlock is currently suspended from the NYPD, not that it is affecting his work schedule all that much. This is a just a fun storyline that throws a wrinkle in the normal proceedings for solving a case. He has to do some things on his own. One of the unexpected side effects of Sherlock’s suspension is he is in contact with Bell more. The bromance is alive and well, unfortunately Bell isn’t enjoying it. The writers have needed to work on showing more of Gregson and Bell and their relationships with Sherlock and Watson. Bell and Sherlock really haven’t had that much time together, and so this small storyline is great to see. Hopefully there will continue to be more moments between them. A show cannot be successful with just one great relationship. Elementary needs to work on rounding out the supporting cast members. Did you love all the Bell and Sherlock moments?

There are quite a few Gregson and Sherlock moments in this episode as well. Watson does her best as the liaison between the two to figure out what it would take to get Sherlock back working with the NYPD again. Before diving into Gregson and Sherlock, it’s worth noting that Gregson and Watson’s relationship is growing as well. Sure right now they mostly discuss how to handle Sherlock, but he is the only other person besides Sherlock that she has one on one scenes with. The writers should continue to focus on that relationship as well as working out the new trust issues that Gregson and Sherlock are currently experiencing. It will be interesting to see if Sherlock notices a difference now that Gregson has said he doesn’t trust him. Even though it is unlikely, having Sherlock try to regain Gregson’s trust would be great to see. What did you think of Gregson and Sherlock in this episode?
