Sherlock: “Our collaboration works, Watson. Even when things are less than ideal between us, it works. When I look back on the last 18 months, I often categorize it as a grand experiment. The results have demonstrated to me, much to my surprise, that I am capable of change, so I will change, for you, for the sake our partnership, for the sake of our work.”

Mycroft: "He would rather be considered wrong than to go to the trouble to prove himself right."

“The Grand Experiment” is the May 15 episode of “Elementary.” This article contains spoilers, consider yourself warned. Be sure to check out the slideshow for more quotes from tonight’s episode. “Elementary” returns this fall on CBS.

There are some great brother moments in this relationship. Sherlock goes to being his normal annoyed self to Mycroft, to vowing to fix Mycroft’s situation at any cost, and then it ends with Sherlock being annoyed that Mycroft went to the NSA and faked his own death – that was the easy way according to Sherlock. The writers have always done a good job at showcasing Sherlock and Mycroft’s relationship. I hope Mycroft comes back next season at some point.

Mycroft and Sherlock have a heart to heart! I will admit, I don’t fully understand what Sherlock is asking forgiveness for. Well, I get that he agreed to work for some guy either because Sherlock was on drugs or the consequences of that case lead him to using. Because of that whole situation, Mycroft went back with MI6 in order to somehow help out Sherlock. That’s all I got. I can’t figure out if this is just supposed to be a hint as to what happened or if I should be remembering something that I’m not. What are your thoughts?

Watson and Sherlock have a discussion about her moving out. Watson’s explanation about why she is leaving is great. It isn’t because of Mycroft. It’s not because she wants privacy. She wants to do something outside of what Sherlock is doing. I’m sure she will miss being woken up by Clyde, but her moving out is probably for the best. I look forward to see how Sherlock handles the new living situation. I’m picturing him breaking into her place at odd hours with Clyde in tow.

Sherlock makes a curious decision at the end of the episode. At first, I was wondering if he was going to relapse because Watson was leaving or pretend to in order to make her stay. Then, he goes and accepts a position at MI6. I understand nothing. What do you think Sherlock is planning to do?

What did you think of the finale? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below.
