“Paint it Black” is the May 1 episode of “Elementary,” which was directed by Lucy Liu. Be sure to check out the slideshow for more quotes from tonight’s episode. “Elementary” airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. central on CBS.

Mycroft and Sherlock have to team up in order to save Watson. Yeah, this is probably not the best partnership. Their banter does make things amusing though. Mycroft comes off especially sassy, which is a side we don’t often see from him. Other than the sass factor, Mycroft doesn’t really contribute much to the team. However, there is definitely more of a focus on Sherlock’s deductions. There hasn’t been that much of a focus since probably the pilot. This might have to do with the fact that he is showing off/explaining to Mycroft.

There is a case, but it doesn’t really feel like a case. Sherlock has to track down a guy and this list of people with giant Swiss bank accounts. Seeing as how this is done outside of the FBI, there isn’t really any witness interrogation or any staples of a police case. The most interesting thing, honestly, is watching Sherlock have to work with Mycroft. Other than that, it is not that exciting. Do you agree?

Watson manages to make herself useful while she is being captive. She operates on one of the guys who was shot. Okay, it’s not the most exciting or intriguing storyline in the world. It is amusing to hear her talk about how she had to operate using box cutters and vodka. The next most exciting thing about this storyline is that this guy shoots his cousin instead of taking him to the hospital. This adds some shock value. Did you enjoy spending time with a kidnapped Watson?

After collecting the list, Mycroft strays from the course. Sherlock wants to involve the NSA, which is a smart plan. Mycroft decides the criminals are trustworthy and totally won’t have them killed or anything. Yeah, not so smart My- wait a minute, Mycroft has his own army of sorts? Yeah, Mycroft has his own backup. There are so many questions. This definitely makes Mycroft much more interesting, and shows he is smarter than he seems. Did Mycroft surprise you?
