Elemental Yarns, the premier local yarn shop of the far south suburbs, will be hosting a breakfast knit-along for the coming four Mondays. While knit-alongs, or KALs (as knitters refer to them), are certainly common in all local yarn shops, what makes this one unique is it takes place before regular store hours. Participants are encouraged to not only knit the project, but they will also have a breakfast circle.
The chosen project for Elemental Yarns' inaugural Manos del Uruguay Serena Breakfast Club KAL is the Alcott Lace Cardi, found both on the Fairmount Fibers website and in the store itself. For $5.00, customers can reserve their place in the class, held inside Elemental Yarns in Shorewood. Materials needed for the class include the pattern, the yarn, and the knitting needles, all of which can be purchased through the store.
While normal business hours on Mondays are 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m., Elemental Yarns will be opening at 9:00a.m. for the KAL, and coffee and breakfast pastries will be provided to the group.
The Alcott Lace Cardi is a simple short-sleeved cardigan with an all-over lace pattern that an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter can follow. Knit-alongs are extremely popular in local yarn shops because they enable people working on the same projects to bring their questions and pose their challenges to a group of people who are progressing through the same set of instructions.
For more information on the Breakfast KAL, or to reserve your spot, call Elemental Yarns before October 28 at 815-729-7410. To register in person, Elemental Yarns in Shorewood is open from 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. on Saturday. In addition to pre-registration, materials for the class can be purchased on the first day of the knit-along.
