Electromotion's Home Power Generator Reveals a Glimpse of the Future

The a small glimpse of the potential of free energy is provided by Electromotion Energy Corporation's "Revolution" natural gas powered energy system. Space heating, electricity, air conditioning, and hot water are all provided by one unit the size of a small shed.

I am not a fan of the power grid as it currently exists. I'm looking forward to a day when it has been phased out, and replaced with decentralized free energy devices that power every home and business as well as powering transportation, appliances and wireless devices at the point of use, drawing energy from the surroundings. Such technology has not broadly proliferated yet. But until such truly exotic technologies have reached the market place Electromotion Energy Corporation's "Revolution", a combined heat and power system, can offer us a glimpse at a free energy powered future.

The Okanagan based Electromotion Energy Corporation's "Revolution" consumes clean burning natural gas as fuel to run an electric generator and a heat pump. One unit provides hot water, space heating, hot water, air conditioning, and electricity.

A quick search of the internet yields many articles about the technology, but few if any specifications or details. One problem is that the company is still working on their website, so there is no official source of information to refer to. We sent them a request for an interview but have not yet heard back from them.

As far as I can tell, a price has not been published, and no fuel consumption information has been released. However, it has been stated that the average home should save up to 2/3rds on their electric bill with the device. Those who use less electricity may even be able to sell excess power back to the grid, and make a profit. Of course the natural gas consumed by the device will have a price, so the electricity produced will not be anywhere near "free." All the information needed to determine how much money a system like this could save a family is not available at this time, but most likely the savings could be very significant.

Although some inventors have trouble getting through all the red tape to bring their product to the market place, certifications for this product have been obtained, and a global patent has been granted. Additional testing is planned to be performed by the Canadian Centre for Housing Technology in Ottawa. They will use two twin houses, and test the Revolution against other products.

This technology is beyond the prototype stage, and is actually being used by one family. They decided to get the unit installed because they were tired of high energy costs. According to an article published by CHBC News about the technology, they seem to be satisfied with the system. One of the drawbacks is the size of the system. It is very large -- about the size of a small shed. However, due to the fact it replaces the hot water tank, furnace, air conditioner, and produces electricity; the size does not seem outrageous. The company hopes to reduce the size of the device by one half or more in a year or two.
