There was one ballot change in Wicomico County: as I detailed on Thursday, Matt Maciarello was placed on the ballot by the Republican Central Committee for State's Attorney. After announcing he would withdraw, though, he may re-reconsider his decision.
Now to the upcoming list of events. August is starting a bit slow but things may pick up next week.
Monday, July 26 - The monthly meeting of the Wicomico County Republican Club will feature speaker Brian Murphy, Republican candidate for Governor. Also speaking will be District 38A Delegate hopeful John Phoebus. The meeting will be held at the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, 144 E. Main Street in Salisbury, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, July 28 - At 8 a.m. the day begins with a Breakfast Fundraiser for Delegate Jim Mathias at the Market Street Inn, 130 West Market Street in Salisbury. Prices range from $150 for guests to $500 for sponsor or $2500 for host sponsor. Information is available from Rice Consulting at 1-866-838-0037. Mathias is running for the District 38 Senate seat in this election.
The monthly meeting of the Wicomico County chapter of Americans for Prosperity will feature a number of local political candidates and feature a question and answer session with District 38 Senate candidate Michael James. The meeting will be held at Brew River at 502 West Main Street in Salisbury, beginning at 7 p.m.
Thursday, July 29 - Campaign Kickoff for District 38B Delegate candidate Joe Schanno with guest speaker Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio. Event will be held at the Ocean City Lions Club facility on Airport Road in West Ocean City and features food, entertainment, and a cash bar - suggested donation is $10. Held from 5:30 to 8:00, contact the campaign at (410) 641-6825.
Campaign Kickoff for District 37A Delegate Candidate Von Siggers at the Wicomico County Library (Meeting Room #1), beginning at 6:00 p.m. Contact Judy Barkely at (410) 749-3474.
Friday, July 30 - The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce continues its Lunch 'n Learn candidate forum series from noon to 1 p.m. Each Friday several Wicomico County candidates (3 or 4) will be invited to come and give a 5 minute opening statement and then take questions from the audience. The Chamber is located at 144 E. Main Street in Salisbury, and patrons are encouraged to bring their own brown bag lunch.
Saturday, July 31 - Target shooting fundraiser for Wicomico County Council candidate Mike Brewington at an undisclosed location. Suggested donation is $20 per person, with details and location available by calling (410) 860-1894.
A meet-and-greet with Governor candidate Brian Murphy is slated at 12513 Ocean Reef Drive in Berlin from 3 to 5 p.m. Contact Kimberly Fernley at (443) 513-6542.
