Barbara Betzvog was walking across a parking lot near Bitter Lake in Seattle, Washington, when a young couple accosted her and stole her dog, Winston, according to KIRO 7. Betzvog was knocked over her walker and had to be hospitalized. Winston, a small mix-breed dog, was taken.
There was a brief struggle that caused Betzvog to dislocate her shoulder and sustain multiple bruises.
Betzvog was able to identify her attackers – and identified them as people who claimed to be Winston's previous owners.
Betzvog got Winston two years ago when a friend found him as a stray. They attempted to find his owners by placing a Craigslist ad and posting flyers. No one ever came forward, and the ads and flyers were up for about one month.
Just last summer, Betzvog bumped into Winston's alleged previous owner in an area park. The encounter was civilized and Betzvog gave the woman her phone number but she never heard from her.
While Betzvog recovers physically from her injuries, her heart is broken at the loss of her furry family member. She has given the police the name of the woman who claimed to be Winston's previous owner.
