According to Tuesday's press release from the Baltimore County, Md., Police Department, an 82-year-old man is facing charges for killing his wife and dog.

Authorities were called to the home of Glen Henry Treslar, on the 16500 block of Garfield Avenue, on Monday afternoon - a friend of the couple had expressed concern and a welfare check was requested.

Responding officers encountered Treslar, who told them that he had killed his wife, 78-year-old Yvonne Treslar.

Mrs. Treslar's body was discovered in a bedroom - she had been shot multiple times. The couple's dog had also been shot and killed in the kitchen.

The couple apparently had argued earlier in the day; Treslar did not try to explain why he had decided to kill the family dog as well.

Treslar is being held, without bail, at the Baltimore County Detention Center on a charge of first-degree murder.
