An elderly Kentucky couple was killed last week in a two-vehicle collision, and police days later are still trying to determine who is at fault in the deadly crash in Dalton.
The crash happened around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday on Chattanooga Road in front of the Guest Inn, according to Dalton police.
Investigators said Mr. Charles Beckett was driving a Chevrolet Cruze Sedan when he pulled out of the hotel parking lot and into the path of a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The driver of the truck, Mr. Joseph Purcell, 68, of Dalton, was towing a boat and traveling north, police spokesman Mr. Bruce Frazier said.
“The truck hit the car broadside, and killed 81-year-old Charles Beckett and 73-year-old Donna Beckett, both of Florence, Kentucky,” Mr. Frazier said. “Donna Beckett was a passenger in the car.”
So far, no charges have been filed in this incident, Mr. Frazier said, adding that the Traffic Enforcement Unit is still investigating.
