It was near panic time Tuesday morning at 30 Rock, when Elaine Stritch let slip an F-bomb on live television . The 89-year-old comedian visited the 10 am segment of NBC's Today show, and gave hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb an earful when in casual conversation the forbidden word slipped out.
At the same time, TODAY beat its ABC rival Good Morning America for the first time in many weeks thanks to the Olympics coverage. Nielsen's national fast program ratings shows NBC's Today show winning in both total viewers and the younger demo as the show originated from Olympic Park in Sochi, Russia.
The last time Today won the total viewer audience was the second week of the London Summer Olympics, the week of Aug., 6 2012. By the following week, Aug. 13, 2012, ABC's Good Morning America was back on top. Will history repeat?
