On Sept. 5, Baby Elaina’s remains were discovered in a box in the rafters of a detached garage at the home where the child was last seen.
Elaina, 18-months-old, seemed to vanish just months ago from a home owned by the family of her mother’s estranged boyfriend. On June 1, her mother, 25, spent the night in the home with her two children and her then-boyfriend, Steven King II, 23. The girl’s father, Terry Steinfurth II, 25, went to the home at about 2 p.m. the next day to pick up the children, but did not see Elaina and was only given daughter Kylee, 4.
At the time, Angela Steinfurth told police she did not know what happened to the little girl, but on Tuesday, she entered a guilty plea to murder and obstructing justice, but according to the Post, a plea deal allows her to maintain her innocence, but acknowledge authorities have enough evidence to convict her of the crimes.
She was sentenced to 18 years to life behind bars as part of the plea agreement.
King also pleaded guilty to aggravated murder on Tuesday.
According to the Post, King claims he found Baby Elaina injured and tried to resuscitate her, but when he was unsuccessful at doing so, he smothered her and placed the box that was later found in the garage.
