Following their initial launch in 2010, Connecticut based El’s Medleys Gluten-Free Snack Mixes are headed South and expanding into Publix Markets in 769 Florida stores and 182 Georgia stores. El's Medleys are available in three flavors: Zesty Original, Sour Cream & Onion, and Cheddar and they offer a healthful twist on traditional snacks.
I got to meet El, Eleanor Smith, and try her Medleys snack mixes back in 2011 and I really liked their bold flavor and crunch. These snack mixes makes are similar to chex mix, but with a healthy kick because they are full of Omega-3s, high in fiber, made with whole grains, and they are vegan. Everything they make is all natural, gluten free, nut free, dairy free, and has no trans fats. You won't see any preservatives or artificial colors/flavors in their products either.
According to the company, the three flavors of Medleys have found a niche due to consumer word-of-mouth and testimonials via social media extolling their distinctive flavors and satisfying crunch, both of which are missing in most gluten-free snacks. El’s has built up great support in the gluten-free community, but is also enjoyed by those for whom gluten is not an issue.
Says company President, Eleanor Smith, “Expanding our reach into these new regions helps build our recognition in the larger nationwide distribution channels while we still serve the smaller independent stores that were our initial outlets.”
