Jacquez was drafted in the 25th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Mets out of Central Arizona College in Coolidge, Arizona. Kingsport concludes their 2013 season tonight.
Michael Bolaski of Hanks High School was batting .203 with six home runs, 55 hits, and 44 runs batted in, in 77 games with the Burlington Bees of the Class A Midwest League. He was demoted back to the Arizona League (AZL) Angels in Tempe, Arizona to become a pitcher. Bolaski threw 3.2 innings in three games compiling a 4.91 ERA. He has made starts at third base, second base, first base, and designated hitter in his short four year minor league career. Bolaski was a 23rd round pick in the 2010 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Pitcher Anthony Prieto of the AZL Cubs threw 21 innings in six games, four were starts, compiling an ERA of 4.29. Prieto went 1-2, striking out 17 batters and allowing 15 runs. Former 1st round, 33rd overall pick Omar Quintanilla of Socorro High School has played in 81 games with the New York Mets. Quintanilla is batting .221 with 61 hits and 21 RBI's in 276 at-bats. Entering his eighth year in the major leagues, he has made 77 starts at shortstop with the Mets compiling 92 put-outs and 219 assists adding up to a .972 fielding percentage. He is currently batting .179 in his last 10 games. One notable game was a 2-4 night against the Washington Nationals, he also drove in two runs. Fernando Rodriguez, a relief pitcher for the Oakland Athletics has been on the disabled list all season after undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery. He is an 18th round selection of the 2003 draft by the Angels out of El Paso Community College. Rodriguez attended Franklin High School. He compiled a 10.12 ERA in four games before undergoing surgery on March 29th.
