In its debut- Marathon Kids® is coming to El Paso, Texas! This is really exciting news. Already making its mark in cities like Dallas, Baltimore, Chicago and Los Angeles- Marathon Kids® will have it's Kick off Celebration on Saturday, Oct 16th, 2010 at UTEP's Kidd Track and Field.

Marathon Kids® is a free, six month endurance building running/walking, nutrition and schoolyard gardening program. In a mission to always be provided as a free, innovative fitness and nutrition program they are dependent on volunteers, school encouraged participation and community involvement. Individual families are encouraged to sign up if their school isn’t participating. This program is in its infant steps in El Paso and as its first group of Marathon Kids® YOU are its' founding members!

In its fifteen year this school and community based fitness program is having a direct impact on kids kinder through fifth grade. Although the target is children kinder through fifth grade Marathon Kids® encourages ALL parents, coaches, teachers, community leaders, children of all ages and El Pasoans in general to participate, promote and foster Marathon Kids® in El Paso. If  you know someone who will be great as a volunteer, participant or sponser please encourage them to visit Marathon Kids® website.

Mark Saturday, October 16th, 2010 on your calendar and plan on being at the University of Texas at El Paso Kidd Field at 10:00am. Let's help get all El Paso and Las Cruces area elementary school children started on the challenge of running or walking 26.2 miles incrementally over six months. The Ceremonial Kick Off Celebration will be free and fun for the whole family

If your school does not participate, or if your child is home schooled, then you may register as a homeschool or individual family.  (Click here to  fill out the registration form.) Registered children who participate in the free Kick Off Celebration will earn free rewards and meet UTEP athletes and other special guests!
