This week on Days, Kayla walked into Stephanie’s apartment just in time to hear Ian tell Stephanie that Daniel wasn’t the one who switched Chloe’s paternity test results. Ian said goodbye to Kayla and excused himself. Kayla demanded to know what test Ian was talking about. Stephanie begged her to let it go, but Kayla refused. Finally, Stephanie admitted she wished she was in the dark, too. She told Kayla about Chloe’s one night stand with Phillip and how she’d learned the baby Chloe was carrying was Phillip’s, not Daniel’s… but someone had switched the results. When Stephanie explained that she didn’t want Melanie and Phillip’s marriage to be over in case Nathan went running to Melanie, Kayla asked if she really wanted to be with a man who didn’t truly love her. Furious, Stephanie stormed out of her apartment.
Nathan walked along the pier, thinking about how Daniel overheard him speaking negatively about Chloe. He left Stephanie a voicemail saying he had screwed things up. A distraught Stephanie approached him and said she’d screwed up, too. Nathan held her and asked what was wrong. Stephanie said she had a fight with her mother and that her mom expected her to be a different person than she was. Nathan asked if it was because he’d moved into her apartment, but Stephanie assured him it wasn’t about him. She said she needed Nathan even if she didn’t deserve him, but Nathan said she more than deserved him.
Stephanie went back home and apologized to Kayla for storming out. Kayla said she wasn’t angry and that Daniel had stopped by while she was out and had invited her to his wedding the following week. Kayla said that Daniel seemed happy. She explained to Stephanie that sometimes a lab tech could enter DNA test results in incorrectly and go back and fix them later. Therefore, Chloe’s baby could easily be Daniel’s. Kayla said it was best not to say anything to anyone but she wanted to make sure the results really were an innocent mistake.
Carly stopped by Chloe and Daniel’s apartment to make sure Nicole wouldn’t do any further damage after her drunken outburst at Chloe’s baby shower. Chloe said that Nicole had been dealt with. Carly asked Chloe if Nathan was the man she’d cheated on Daniel with. Chloe asked why she wanted to know. Carly explained that Nathan said he didn’t think she was good enough for Daniel and his sudden hostility would make sense if Chloe had slept with him. Chloe didn’t answer Carly’s question but convinced her that it was best if she didn’t know who the man was. That way they could all put the past behind them.
Melanie and Phillip went house hunting and found a house they loved that was only two blocks from Maggie’s. Phillip called his realtor and put in an offer. At Maggie’s, Melanie excitedly showed Maggie pictures of the house online. Phillip walked in scowling, saying someone had “trumped” his offer and they’d lost the house. Melanie was upset, saying it seemed like someone kept buying the houses they were interested in on purpose. Phillip made some calls and figured out that it was Victor. Maggie wondered why Victor would want to keep them from buying a house. Phillip said Victor didn’t want to lose his excuse to visit Maggie and that perhaps her charms would bring the country out of the housing crisis. Melanie came up with a plan to outsmart Victor. When Victor stopped by for a visit, Melanie informed him they’d be moving in with him. She said she was glad someone kept buying all their houses because it would give her time to bond with her father-in-law. Victor left, muttering, “They think they’re so damn smart. This isn’t over. Not by a long shot.”
As Will, Johnny and Allie explored the apartment Rafe rented for them; Sami said she was relieved that Will wasn’t a suspect in EJ’s shooting anymore. Rafe said it wasn’t good news if Will actually did shoot EJ. Meanwhile, EJ woke up from his coma as Arianna sat by his bedside. Arianna ran to get Lexi as EJ called for Sami, his “wife.” EJ told Lexi his last memory was getting married to Sami. Arianna called Rafe who told Sami that EJ was awake. Sami and Rafe went to the hospital. As Arianna and Lexi explained EJ’s memory loss, Rafe burst in and asked what game EJ was playing. EJ asked what Rafe was doing there and why he was in the hospital. Lexi kicked Rafe out and told him and Sami that any rise in EJ’s blood pressure could cause a stroke. Lexi encouraged Sami to visit EJ and pretend everything was fine. Sami refused at first, but eventually Lexi convinced her to see EJ.
EJ told Sami that it was good to see her and that he loved her. Sami asked what he remembered about the wedding. He said he remembered taking their vows and that something had happened. He begged her to tell him what had happened to him, his monitors going off. Lexi gave EJ a sedative and Sami left the room. Sami insisted she wouldn’t pretend she was married to EJ, but Lexie begged her to go along with it. She said EJ’s charts pointed to a full recovery but it was imperative that he remain calm. EJ called Sami back in, noticing she wasn’t wearing her rings. Sami casually said she’d been giving Sydney a bath and hadn’t put them back on. EJ asked to see his kids. Sami begrudgingly picked up Johnny and Sydney from Caroline’s and took them to see their father. When EJ asked Johnny if the mansion was lonely without him, Johnny said that they’d moved in with Rafe. Sami quickly explained that she and the kids were staying at the pub because she hated the DiMera mansion and that Johnny got confused because Rafe stopped by to visit his sisters a lot. EJ told her he loved her. As Sami kissed him goodbye, Rafe barged in. Rafe started to argue with EJ, but Stefano arrived and asked what was going on. Sami left, telling EJ she loved him through gritted teeth.
EJ told Stefano that Sami was his angel. Stefano asked if he was sure about that. EJ said Stefano wasn’t going to lose him and he wasn’t going to lose Sami… because he remembered everything. He remembered Rafe interrupting the wedding and losing everything seconds before becoming Sami’s husband. Stefano eagerly asked if he remembered who had shot him. EJ’s blood pressure went up and Stefano had to leave the room. When he returned, EJ said that he shot himself. He explained that he was so depressed over losing Samantha and the children that he didn’t want to wake up. Stefano said he couldn’t have shot himself because the gun was missing. EJ suspected Nicole had shot him since killing her was “on his to do list.” Stefano said she had an alibi backed up by the FBI but that he suspected Sami. Stefano explained that Sami had tried to take his life already by pulling the plug on him days before. Stefano said EJ was in a position to put either Sami or Will in jail and suggested they figure out which would hurt Sami the most.
After her argument with Chloe, Nicole went to the pet cemetery to visit her dog Pookie. As she stood at the grave site and cried, she overheard Brady talking to Keith the funeral director. Nicole eavesdropped, overhearing him say that Sparkles the orangutan’s remains needed to be removed immediately. Nicole wondered how she never knew that Brady had a pet orangutan. She went to the Kiriakis mansion and made herself a drink, much to Victor’s annoyance. As he ordered her to leave, Nicole asked if Vivian or anyone else in the house had owned an orangutan. “Yes, we’ve got several orangutans and a couple of wombats, too,” Victor replied. “What in the hell is a wombat?” Nicole asked as Victor left to take a phone call. Henderson told Nicole he hadn’t been able to find Brady but suggested he check the mausoleum as Brady had been spending a lot of time there.
Nicole spied on Brady from outside the mausoleum as he tortured Vivian, who pleaded with him to show her some compassion and let her out of the sarcophagus. Brady shoved the blue tooth earpiece in his pocket, but it fell to the floor. When Brady left, Nicole went into the mausoleum, remarking that it was sad that Brady spent so much time there thinking he was talking to his mother. She noticed the earpiece on the floor, picked it up and heard Vivian’s voice begging someone to let her out. Nicole’s eyes widened as she realized Vivian was in the sarcophagus. Nicole thought she’d gone crazy, promising herself she wouldn’t drink anymore martinis, but Vivian assured her she was locked inside the coffin and begged Nicole to let her out, calling her “Nadine.” “I’m Nicole,” Nicole said, asking where Isabella was and who put Vivian in there. Vivian said she’d explain everything once Nicole let her out. Nicole tried to remove the top from the sarcophagus but couldn’t lift it. As Vivian directed her to a lever, Brady returned and asked what she was doing there.
Nicole told Brady that Vivian was locked inside the sarcophagus and quickly realized that he was the one who put her there. As she lectured Brady about how wrong it was, Brady remarked that it was ironic that the tables had turned. For once, she was in a position of power instead of him. Brady explained what Vivian had done and how she had planned to lock Maggie inside the coffin. Nicole admitted that Vivian deserved what had happened to her as Vivian muttered that Nicole had “no respect.” Nicole pleaded with Brady to let Vivian out because she knew he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he let Vivian die. Brady said that Nicole wouldn’t turn him in because she loved him and knew what prison was like. He said that locking Vivian up had given him a new perspective on things and made him realize that he shouldn’t have been so judgmental. Brady kissed Nicole. Nicole slapped him, accusing him of using a page from her playbook. Brady kissed Nicole again and she tore his shirt off and kissed him passionately as Vivian screamed that she could see them.
