William Dresser, an 88 year old man who shot his wife at a Nevada hospital is on suicide watch as of Monday. Dresser is charged with attempted murder and is being held on $255,000 bail at a Carson City jail.
William Dresser shot his wife in the chest at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center Sunday morning. Dresser walked into his wife’s hospital room and fired one shot from a small-caliber semi-automatic handgun that he recently bought.
The hospital was placed on lockdown for practically two hours while Dresser was apprehended. The hospital stated that the shooting was a “targeted situation”. No one else was injured.
Dresser’s wife, whose name and age have not been released, suffered life-threatening injuries and was moved to the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
The exact reason for Dresser’s wife’s initial stay at the hospital was not released, but CNN reported that it was due to a previous injury. Foul play is not believed to be involved. Dresser has no criminal record.
