(c) James Kleen "One of the Lab/Bassett puppies that PNP saved"
Yesterday, another great save by great people for a great cause. Pilots-n-Paws worked with Girard LifeSaver Rescue out of Burke County, GA to rescue eight Lab/Bassett puppies and get them to A Place For All Rescue in Coatesville, PA. Samantha Holton contacted Pilots-n-Paws to see if there were any pilots interested in helping get these puppies to Pennsylvania. A few responded and the details were set into motion.
The puppies were driven to Millen Airport on Sunday at 7:30 am to meet with James Kleen , of Savannah, GA, and Robert Takacs. It was about 23 degrees on Sunday morning and they were all cold, but they got the airplane loaded with the puppies and started out for Sanford County, NC. This was the first leg of the trip. There they met Tom Bragg about 10:00 am. The puppies got a little break, got to run around and then back in the next plane with Mr. Bragg. They set out for the next flight leg to Leonardtown, Maryland to meet with Mike Mulligan at roughly about 12:00 noon. Again the puppies were able to take a potty break, get some exercise and check everything out before being loaded onto a helicopter. Wow, these pups got a helicopter ride too. Mike then took them to the Chester County GO Carlson Airport on the third leg to where they were received with open arms by A Place For All rescue.
Sharon and Cathy Zerkle are now getting the pups ready for their adoption. This was eight little fur-baby lives that were saved by seven people on Sunday. There were more people behind the scenes that were not mentioned but special thanks go out to them all. If you are a pilot that is reading this and you have not heard of Pilots-n-Paws and would like to get more information on helping more fur-babies, please click here for more information. It is a great cause and a great way to give back to the little ones that have no voice. We are their voices and we can be heard. Voice yours!
James Kleen has helped out with several rescues over the past year. He has helped with a Cane Corso rescue, Labrador’s rescue, Airedales and others. It is very nice that we have help here in Savannah for these great little fur-babies with pilots that are in our area. Many special thanks to them all, including James Kleen and Robert Takacs.
