Mayra Kroonen, second at the Dutch Championships in June, assured her spot on the Dutch women's World team by winning the second of two World Championship qualifying meets last weekend in Amsterdam, Sport.nl reports.
Newcomer Joy Goedkoop, 15, was the surprising second place finisher, and has also been named to the Dutch team along with beam sensation Sanne Wevers. Wevers, a former World Cup gold medalist on beam, is best known for performing a double turn with her leg up on that event.
Sanne Wevers, 2009 Glasgow Grand Prix, Beam (tie for 1st -- 14.075):
At the 2009 Dutch European trials meet, Goedkoop performed a unusual toe on front giant to a Jaeger.
Joy Goedkoop, 2009 Dutch European Trials, Bars:
One spot is still up for grabs on the women's team, which can have as many as four members. The best fit is likely 2009 European Championships competitor Marrit Ewald.
2009 Dutch champion Lichelle Wong chose to forgo this championship in favor of attending UCLA. 2008 Dutch Olympian Suzanne Harmes had a poor performance on her first three events and elected not to vault at the second selection meet. "I had a blackout," she told the press after the meet.
On the men's side, 18-year-old Bart Deurloo assured his place on the men's team, along with Jeffrey Wammes and Epke Zonderland. The Dutch Gymnastics Federation also named Anthony van Assche and Herre Zonderland to the team. Deurloo and Wammes will do all-around, and E. Zonderland, who is suffering from a shoulder injury, will likely perform on paralle bars and high bar only.
