Takedown Wrestling kicks off the new year with a winning guest list of wrestling and coaching greats for the Saturday, Jan. 4 show, the two-hour broadcast announced Wednesday.
Join Scott Casber, Dan McCool, Steve Foster, Jeff Murphy and Brad Johnson live this Saturday 9-11 a.m. Central and 10 a.m.-noon Eastern.
The first guest of the first Takedown Wrestling of 2014 is Brandon Eggum, University of Minnesota mat great (and 2001 World freestyle silver medalist) who, after a dozen years on the coaching staff of the Golden Gophers, is now head assistant coach. At 9:20 a.m,, Duane Goldman – four-time NCAA finalist for University of Iowa, now head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers for more than two decades – takes the mic… followed at 9:35 by Al Nacin, one of the great upper-weight wrestlers in Iowa State history as the school’s first four-time All-American.
Kicking off the second hour will be Joel Greenlee, a two-time All-American heavyweight at University of Northern Iowa who is now in his 17th season at the helm of the Ohio University wrestling program. At 10:20 a.m., another veteran head coach, Craig Turnbull of West Virginia University, is the featured guest, to talk about the storied Mountaineer mat program which he has headed up for 34 seasons and is now competing in the Big 12.
