Here’s a way to make something very easy, very special, and a bit creative out of those frozen waffles. Okay, you all love them – and why not? Waffles for the toaster were a delicious addition to the fast and easy breakfast food cuisine. If you’re looking for something just a bit different, try using them as the basis for delicious French toast. Read further to see how.

It’s hard to believe that Eggo waffles were first introduced in the 1930s. Before Kellogg bought them in the 1970s and advertised them under the campaign “Leggo of my Eggo” many people hadn’t heard of them. Prior to the introduction of these frozen waffles, you needed a waffle iron to enjoy them.

The wonder of waffles is the crispiness. The batter generally has oil and is pressed between hot plates to cook. The pockets made by the waffle iron creates a wonderful crunchy outside with a softness within.

Here is an easy way to use the frozen waffles – you will love them!

EGGO Waffle French Toast Recipe

Ingredients for EGGO Waffle French Toast:

  • 4 EGGO waffle squares, thawed
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 2 dashes cinnamon

Directions for EGGO Waffle French Toast:

Heat to medium a griddle coated with a little oil.

Whisk together the egg, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. Dip the thawed waffle squares one at a time into the egg mixture. Place each square on the heated griddle. Let cook on one side for 1 – 2 minutes, flip and cook on the other until done. Serve with butter and syrup or preserves.
