Edwin Edwards and his wife to star in new reality series

Edwin Edwards, 85 and his wife Trina Edwards, 34, will be starring in a new reality show on A&E in February. The series titled "The Governor's Wife" will star the former Louisiana governor and his wife as she tries to navigate his world of high end appearances and being stepmother to two daughters who are in their 60's and a mother to two teenage boys.

Edwards and his wife met while he was serving time on various federal charges and she was his pen pal. The pair married shortly after his release from prison in 2011. Edwards has talked about starring in a reality show since his release but today's announcement makes everything official.

According to "The Shreveport Times" the official description of the show read, "Between school projects, running for president of the Homeowner’s Association, fending off skeptics who think she’s a gold digger, and thoughts of adding a baby of their own to the mix, the Edwards clan truly represent a new take on the modern family.”

There has been no word on how many episodes of the series will air. The first episode will air on February 27th on A&E, Cox Cable channel 39.
