"The Green Hornet" star Edward Furlong, who was arrested Tuesday for violating a restraining order placed on him against his wife, was in court Wednesday for a probation hearing when the judge asked why he's not been making child support payments. "I'm out of money. I'm completely broke," was the actor's answer.
According to TMZ, Furlong apparently violated a restraining order placed on him by his estranged wife, which prohibited the actor from coming within 100 yards of her. During the hearing on Tuesday the City Attorney told the judge in the case that Furlong had come within 50 yards of his wife in December, which violated his probation. Furlong was arrested and his bail was set at $75,000. He posted bail and was released later that day.
The actor, who also starred in "Terminator 2" and "American History X," was questioned during the hearing about his lack of child support payments to his wife when he made the statement that he's broke. Edward is currently one month behind on his support payments.
Furlong did say that when the order for support was made the judge did not take into account fees paid to his publicist, manager and attorney, who incidentally was not present at the hearing, that amount to 30% of the actor's income.
His wife apparently wants increased child and spousal support payments. A decision was not made by the judge on the increased payments.
