This Saturday, October 5, 2013, the grassroots organization UtahCARE will be in the area of the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints for an “Educate and Motivate Temple Walk” in which members from UtahCARE will be gathering signatures and educating the public about the benefits of cannabis in Utah.
They will be "around (not in or on) the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints (the Mormons) Salt Lake City Temple Grounds" during the 2013 Fall Conference and according to their Facebook page it “is to obtain 1,000 signatures by January 1, 2014, which will allow us to introduce a bill for the legalization of Cannabis throughout Utah”.
They encourage supporters of medical marijuana legalization in Utah to:
“Please join us to add your signature to the petition and learn how you can become personally involved in the movement, and bring warm clothing as it tends to snow every time Conference is held” and "the Temple is located within walking distance of public transportation, by train or bus. Parking may be limited due to the Conference attendees as well as participants in the annual Utah Undie Run (which is being held on Sunday), so there is something for everyone this weekend in down town Salt Lake City".
