Educate!, a nonprofit founded by Fairview High School graduate Eric Glustrom, is adding 415 students, increasing its numbers to 830 students, to its Educate! Experience program..
Educate! works toward empowering Ugandan youth to solve issues in their communities. They also hope their model can be applied throughout Africa. Educate! Experience is a two-year program that includes a course on leadership in an entrepreneurship focused on social responsibility.
According to a press release from the organization, "Educate! scholars have already impacted over 15,000 people through a variety of self-sustaining initiatives and enterprises, including a business that turns waste paper into bulletin boards, a jewelry business that provides employment to women with HIV/Aids in the community, and a tree planting initiative that is protecting against deforestation by planting over 20,000 seedlings."
