Graham Woodward put on an outstanding show for the Target Center patrons Wednesday afternoon as he scored a game high 40 points to lead the Edina Hornets to a 96-61 win over the Andover Huskies in the Class AAAA quarterfinals.
Woodward, who will be headed next season to Penn State, got the Hornets on the board :44 into the game. The Huskies countered with a 5-0 run for the early lead. Reggie Lynch, grandson of former Bloomington Jefferson asssitant coach Jake Lynch scored four straight points and bolstered a 9-0 Edina run. Woodward and Reggie Lynch alternated in the scoring column before Dan Tuteberg broke the monopoly.
Woodward thn went on an offensive burst that included three three pointers and excellent speed and ball-handling ability that earned him 32 first half points and a 51-27 halftime lead for the Hornets.
Reggie Lynch opened the second half scoring on a dunk and also picked up an assist on a basket by Nick Boone. Andover, with the only sub .500 record in the tournament couldn't get back in the game. Both teams cleared their benches and there were some bright spots for the Hornet reserves as Brian Olson and Mahad Haji hit three points. The last minute of the game was played in running time due to the thirty five point margin.
Reggie Lynch, who will be playing against Woodward next season at Illinois scored 24 for Edina. He also had several key blocks. Connor Wilkie and Kyle Kelfler scored 13 points apiece for Andover.
Edina will face Park Center in the Class AAAA semifinals Thursday night at 8 PM.
Andover ended their season with a 10-20 record.
