Edge to join WWE Hall of Fame

Edge has been announced to be in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012.

The announcement was made this past Monday night on RAW.

Edge (born Adam Copeland) is a true WWE original. We began wrestling in 1992 after being trained in his native Canada.  He joined WWE in 1997 and never looked back.

But his career unfortunately ended after WrestleMania XXVII due to a serious neck injury.  The retirement came out of left field, as he was still in his prime and one of WWE’s top main event talents that could be relied on to carry a brand should he need to.

Over the course of his fourteen career with WWE he became of, if not the, most decorated performers in company history.  He became a seven-time World Heavyweight Champion, four-time WWE Champion, a staggering twelve-time World Tag Team Champion, two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, five-time Intercontinental Champion and one-time United States Champion.  In addition he won the 2010 Royal Rumble, was the 2001 King of the Ring and cashed in two Money in the Bank briefcases.

He is known of his legendary tag team with lifelong friend Christian, his partnership with Lita that earned him the moniker “The Rated R Superstar” and his underhanded partnership with Vickie Guerrero that made him the face of the SmackDown brand, led him to numerous World Championships and the titles of The Ultimate Opportunist and The Master Manipulator.

Edge is certainly the headliner/centerpiece induction of this year’s Class.  It is also widely assumed that Christian will be the one to induct Edge into the Hall, although no official announcement has been made yet.

This year’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be on March 31, the night before WrestleMania XXVIII, in Miami, Florida at the American Airlines Arena.
