Edge Prep wins opener at World Sports School Challenge

According to the Edge School website, Edge Prep won its first game of the 2013-14 World Sports School Challenge in Calgary with a 7-4 win over the Swiss International Sports and Education Centre at Calgary's Markin MacPhail Centre.

Edge Prep, which is located 15 minutes west of Calgary in Springbank, across the street from Calaway Park, got three points each from Taro Hirose and Josh McKechney. Hirose notched one goal and two assists, while McKechey had three helpers. Danton Oliver also recorded a multi-point game for Edge Prep as he notched a goal and an assist.

The Swiss International Sports and Education Centre squad lost despite a hat trick from Vincent Dekumbis.

In other action, OHA Prep defeated the Banff Hockey Academy 5-0 and the mighty Shattuck St. Mary's out of Minnesota defeated the Delta Hockey Academy 4-2.

On Saturday, Edge Prep plays Delta at noon, while action in the Minor Midget Division also commences.
