'Edge of Tomorrow' movie stills with Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise

According to Comic Book Movie on Friday, recent movie stills for "Edge of Tomorrow" starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt show them in their high-tech military battle gear. Some stills even entail them in action. Also, there are behind-the-scenes performances in front of a green screen and simulated environmental conditions so the audience can feel the true realism of the film.

Obviously, Blunt had to be in tip-top physical condition for this film and even three months after her pregnancy, she can still fit well into her skinny jeans. Also, Blunt and Cruise plan on accompanying director Doug Liman to three film premieres of "Edge of Tomorrow" and this will happen all in one day and in three cities. They plan on traveling to London, Paris, and then New York in a crazy promotional stunt in the theme of the film as a "race against time".

The film centers on a more sci-fi version of Bill Murray's "Groundhog Day" where William Cage, played by Cruise, is a non-combat ready military officer who joined the ranks of many against an alien invasion against Europe. Coincidentally, the date in which this occurs is the same time when the Normandy D-Day invasion happened. Anyhow, within minutes Cage and his crew are wiped out and he finds himself back at square one prior to the onslaught. Interestingly enough, the invasion of all the forces that have not yet been infested by the aliens approach the aliens over the English Channel much like that of the Normandy invasion.

Apparently, he has been destined to rethink his battle plans each time he's killed until he can reach a point where would wind up victorious. He teams up with special forces warrior Rita Vrataski, played by Blunt, where he can help improve upon each repeated event. An interview with Bill Paxton revealed that he plays a military instructor that sees Cruise's character as someone who is a deserter impersonating an officer.

Liman's "Edge of Tomorrow" opens in theaters come June 6.
