On Wednesday, March 20 Comingsoon.net reported that the highly anticipated film "The World's End" will be arriving in theaters in the United States on August 23, 2013. Directed by Edgar Wright, the science fiction comedy was originally scheduled to open on October 25.
The film is the final installment in the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy, also known as the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. The first film in the series is the zombie romantic comedy "Shaun of the Dead" and the second film, "Hot Fuzz", is a buddy cop thriller. The third movie was already scheduled to release during the summer in the United Kingdom.
"The World's End" stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Rosamund Pike, Martin Freeman, and Eddie Marsan. The group stars as a bunch of old friends who reunite after twenty years in their hometown to re-enact an impressive pub crawl from their youth, while inadvertently affecting the future of mankind. Pike plays Sam, the younger sister of Martin Freeman's character.
Filmed in England late last year, the Focus Features film was written by both Wright and Pegg. The pubs in the film include The First Post, The Old Familiar, The Famous Cock, The Cross Hands, The Good Companions, The Trusty Servant, The Two Headed Dog, The Mermaid, The Beehive, The Hole in the Wall, and The World's End.
