Attending the Edgar Cayce Legacy Conference at the A.R.E. was a life changing event for me. It triggered significant psychic awareness and spiritual growth, and while I wrote about this in greater detail in Lifesigns: Tapping the Power of Synchronicity, Serendipity and Miracles, it warrants a mention here because the same experience that changed my life in 1998, just become available for 30 people.
Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.)
Before I came to write, I was a scientist. In the early 1990s, I was moved by some social injustices which triggered much inner work and led me to the A.R.E., to a workshop called "Finding your Mission in Life." Based on the revelations of this workshop, I began to write a story, Facades. In early 1998, after considerable personal sacrifice, I finished the first draft of that book, but upon inspection I realized it was terrible which sent me into a tailspin. Since I had such a positive experience the first time at the A.R.E., and coincidently just received the A.R.E. conference catalog, I sought out the conference I had attended years earlier. While it had been discontinued, I was drawn to another conference called the "Edgar Cayce Legacy" which was only weeks away. One of benefits touted in the catalog was, "Learn to use your intuition to find your soul's purpose."
There was also a statement about "psychic" in the catalog, which caused me to call the A.R.E. and ask, "Is this for psychics?" The registrar told me it was for everyone, including people like me – nonbelievers. I took a leap of faith and registered, hoping I could gain perspective on whether writing my book was aligned with my purpose in life. A month later I traveled to Virginia Beach and made my way to the orientation of this five-day forum where I quickly learned I was at a psychic development conference. Being a nonbeliever, I felt a bit mislead by the registrar, and even considered getting on the next plane. Something told me to stay though, and I was soon challenged to fit in with the other attendees who professed to be psychic. My mantra that week became, "Let's fool the psychics that I'm psychic!"
The Edgar Cayce Legacy Conference
That conference turned out to be the most significant experience I had in my spiritual growth. Being a scientist and a nonbeliever, I approached it with reservations, however, soon came to realize that every one of us is psychic and intuitive. When we put ourselves in a safe place and experiment, we have personal revelations and open to a new way of living.
The conference, led by Carol Ann Liaros and Henry Reed took the attendees into a comprehensive five-day journey with lectures, discussions and hands-on exercises on seeing and feeling auras, healing, remote viewing, intuition, inspirational writing, dreams, and more. It was a safe place where I could throw caution to the wind and experiment.
I remember the first experimental technique we tried. I faced it with fear. Then I remembered what Carol Ann Liaros said during her presentation, "If nothing comes to you, make it up!" That I could do. In that first exercise, I was asked to tell my partner about a section of her body that wasn't functioning in perfect health. I blurted out "Liver!"
Unexpectedly, the woman nodded her head. "Yes! The day before I left for the conference, I had an ultrasound on my liver. I'm waiting for the results."
I left that conference with a whole new world available to me, and knowing it's available to everyone. Don't get me wrong, while I never believed I was psychic, I knew I had good intuition from time-to-time, maybe even good hunches, but I never characterized myself as being psychic.
NOW Available-You Are Psychic: The Legacy Conference
Carol Ann Liaros has been an instructor at the A.R.E. for over 25 years. She has revived the Legacy Conference and is bringing it back through Creative Community Institute with the participation of certified instructors at the A.R.E. campus (Gibbons House), March 17-22, 2014. There were about 200 participants in the original Legacy I attended. This conference will be limited to only 25-30 participants to create a more intimate and unique setting.
