For the Salsa lovers in Los Angeles a night like Thursday's at the Conga Room was long overdue. Eddie Palmieri, the multiple Grammy award winning Puerto Rican pianist and bandleader, brought with him some of the best Latin music performers out there - including tres player Nelson Gonzalez, timbalero Jose Claussell, conga player Johnny Rivero, bassist Luques Curtis, and vocalist Herman Olivera - for a concert that was a thrill to those who know the talent of this 73-year-old whose musical career has gone on now for over 50 years.
Some stood by the stage to listen and watch what a magnificent band can do. Others did not miss a beat without dancing to a music created exactly for that purpose. After a long satisfying concert that went on for over 90 minutes, the party continued to the Salsa selections of DJ Chuy Martinez, who has been part of the Los Angeles Latin club scene for decades.
