Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold will reunite for the new "Beverly Hills Cop" television pilot. According to Yahoo News on March 6, both actors will reprise their roles from the film in the pilot episode.
Murphy is producing the television series, which will follow the actions of Axel Foley's son, portrayed in the television series by Brandon T. Jackson. Much like his father in the first "Beverly Hills Cop," Axel's son heads to Beverly Hills to deal with the crime there.
According to the news article, Reinhold's William "Billy" Rosewood received a major promotion, thanks in part to his accomplishments in the original movie franchise. Murphy is supposed to have a recurring role, although it is unclear how many episodes he is scheduled for. Whether or not Reinhold appears past the pilot is unknown.
Kevin Pollak also has a role in the new series as does Seila Vand from the Oscar winning film, "Argo."
Shawn Ryan, the show runner who created "The Shield" will run the new "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise, with Murphy helping to oversee things. Sony Television will produce the pilot and the show will air on CBS.
