Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold: 'Beverly Hills Cop' CBS pilot confirmed

Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold in a "Beverly Hills Cop" pilot for CBS is confirmed, reports Yahoo! News on March 7. Reinhold, 55, will appear as William "Billy" Rosewood. However, his character has achieved a major promotion. Murphy, 51, who is also the producer of the pilot, will reprise his role as Axel Foley. The pilot, by "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan, and produced by Sony Television, will focus on Foley's police officer son played by 29-year-old comedian and actor Brandon T. Jackson. Kevin Pollak, 55, also stars.

"Beverly Hills Cop" is a comedy/action film released in 1984. The movie is listed in "The New York Times Guide to the Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made," and it was the biggest hit of 1984, pulling in at least $234 million at the box office. The movie was nominated for two Golden Globes: Best Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical and Eddie Murphy was nominated for Best Motion Picture Actor - Comedy/Musical. The movie also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Writing (Original Screenplay.)

Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold in "Beverly Hills Cop" benefited greatly from the movie, particularly Murphy who was already reeling from the success of his work on "Saturday Night Live," and on the movies "48 Hrs." and "Trading Places."
