Eddie Hedges of Blessid Union of Souls fame will be in Cincinnati on Monday, December 31 singing with Fresh Winds Choir at Fresh Winds Church in West Chester from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Other special guests for the evening include Leonard Watson, Scott Snyder and New Year’s Eve Big Band. The event is free and open to the public.
Led by founders Daniel and Brenda Dunlop, Fresh Winds choir is a touring worship ministry committed to offering encouragement to the body of Christ. According to Fresh Winds Web site, their ministry is patterned after the Psalmist David’s belief, “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.”
The 50-member choir combines passionate worship leaders from across the city of Cincinnati together in an energetic praise choir. Together, they travel throughout the Tri-state to sing at churches, community groups and at other places where the doors are opened for them to minister.
Although he now resides in Los Angeles with his family, Eddie Hedges performs frequently with the Fresh Winds Choir when he returns home to Cincinnati. Among the selection of songs, audiences might expect to hear songs like “I Thank You Jesus,” “Stand By My Faith” and “You Saved Me” from Hedges latest full-length CD, Faith Like a Child.
“The title for ‘Faith Like a Child’ came from what it says in the Bible about having faith like a child. As we get older, we get caught up in the stress of the world and we need to get back to that. Children don’t stress like that. We can’t control everything. Sometimes, we need to learn to get off the throne, put God back on it and trust that He is control.”
Ultimately, Hedges said the theme of the album focuses on standing in faith and putting our trust in God.
“I want people to understand what faith like a child really means. Kids don’t worry about things like money, power or job security. They don’t stress and they just trust that everything is going to be okay. As adults, we need to be more like that,” he continued.
In addition to appearing live, Eddie Hedges has released four solo albums, Celebrate Christmas, Faith Like a Child, Sonday and Something to Believe In.
