It’s already been quite the year for Ed Sheeran. The Grammy-nominated singer is one of the rising stars in music and his star is just beginning to shine brighter. According to a report by the Hollywood Reporter on March 19, the British singer-songwriter is set to appear as a musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” and he has also hinted at a summer release of his sophomore album.

The “Lego House” singer will debut the first single from his upcoming second album on the April 12 episode of “SNL” hosted by “Neighbors” star Seth Rogen. As far as the release date of his much-anticipated new album, Sheeran may have hinted at the release date with a cryptic tweet on Thursday morning (March 20) that simply said “7/4/14.”

Whether this is an exact release date or a hint at something else, fans of Ed Sheeran’s music can expect something new this summer. Sheeran’s new album is already said to have been inspired by pal Taylor Swift. Back in December, Sheeran told MTV News about the impact she has had on the recording of his new album.

“Whenever I finished a song, I’d send it to her to get her opinion. She’s heard all the songs and she’s a good judge of what’s good or not good.”

It’s a pretty good bet fans will enjoy the new music as well as his upcoming appearance on “Saturday Night Live.”
