Known for his casual, laidback attire wearing usually jeans and a hoodie, the young and on the rise Ed Sheeran will take the stage February 17 at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Doors open at 7:00pm and the show begin at 8:00pm. After receiving incredible reviews for his performance at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, this Sunday will unquestionably be an amazing performance.
Determined to make it in the music world and to share his talent with anyone who would listen, Sheeran began his career at the age of 14 in the year of 2005. Within the first three years he independently released his first EP, The Orange Room EP, and two albums, Ed Sheeran (2006) and Want Some? (2007). Though he failed to receive much attention, he did not quit. In 2008 he moved to London to continue to pursue his musical career. About a year after the move, at the end of 2009, and much hard work, he released another EP, You Need Me. A few months later Sheeran began to receive more and more attention through YouTube; his fan base grew exponentially and he began to receive credit from all types of sources. However, it was not until the release of his final independent EP, No. 5 Collaborations Project, in January 2011, did Sheeran begin to receive mainstream attention. His EP sold over 7,000 copies in its first week and reached number 2 in the ITunes chart without any promotion label. After that it took only three months to seal a deal.
After six years of hard work and determination he successfully made his way into the music industry. Soon after, in September, 2011, his debut album was released. Within the following year his success skyrocketed. Containing the singles “The A Team” and “Lego House”, his debut album was certified quintuple platinum in the UK. In 2012 he won two BRTI Awards for Best British Male and British Breakthrough. “The A Team” won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. He made a guest appearance on Taylor Swift’s fourth album Red and wrote songs for the boy band One Direction. “The A Team” was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards and he duetted with Elton John during the ceremony.
During the rest of 2013, Sheeran will spend much of his time touring North American as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s Red Tour. Meanwhile, however, Sheeran will be the center of his own show.
At the age of 21, and only at the start of his career, Sheeran has already achieved more than many artists achieve in their lifetime. His success is an inspiration and his music is magical. As he usually performs sold out shows make sure to buy your tickets ASAP!
