Ed Schultz keeps his word to 99ers giving more air time to unemployment tragedy

Today on the Ed Schultz Radio Show there were many important issues discussed. The one I am most interested in, as usual, is the plight of the long term unemployed 99ers who have gone 3 months or more with no income due to the exhaustion of all available UI benefits.

Last Friday Ed appealed to President Obama for an Executive Order granting benefits to the millions effected by this tragedy on his MSNBC TV Show, which airs 6PM eastern time. Today Schultz put the question of if Obama should do this (UI by Executive Order) directly to one of his guests Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). Brown responded, "He (Obama) needs to step in and do whatever it takes to help the situation, Executive Order if that's the way he wants to go, but we continue to try to get this done in the Senate."

Brown a staunch supporter of the unemployed and especially the long term unemployed who have run out of time confirmed his continued support of the Tax Extenders Bill HR 4213 stating that if it does not pass then this country will see even more foreclosures, layoffs and perhaps even a reversal of the modest economic gains recently seen in this country.

Rob C. (a leader in the unemployment movement) also appeared on The Ed Schultz Radio show today to announce that the 99ers have contacted the office of Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA) requesting he personally deliver to both President Obama and David Axelrod our plea for President Obama to execute an Executive Order addressing this issue immediately on behalf of America's Unemployed masses. Rob is currently awaiting a response from Mr. Ed Shelleby, McDermott's Press Secretary as to whether McDermott will agree to act as our envoy and expects a reply no later than tomorrow.

It is our fondest hope to have Ed Schultz allow Mr. McDermott to accept this task live on air during MSNBC's Broadcast of the Ed Show sometime this week.

In order to encourage McDermott to do so, I encourage every everyone to call and tell Mr. McDermott to appear on the Ed Schultz TV show on MSNBC right away and commit to America's Unemployed masses that he will indeed hand carry our recommendation "Communiqué" to President Obama this week.

To reach McDermott:

  • Congressional Toll Free line 1-877-851-6437 ask to be connected with Congressman McDermott
  • Congressman McDermott's office in Seattle by phone (206) 553-7170 or fax (206) 553-7175
  • Contact the Congressman's D.C. office via telephone at (202) 225-3106 or by fax at (202) 225-6197

Hit those phone lines People...this is our chance. And do not forget to continue to call the Whitehouse in our campaign PHASE III to seal the deal once Obama gets out packet from McDermott.

    Thanks Mr Shultz!

Everyone there is a march going on come join us in D.C.

In regards to meeting and such the plan would be to stay on the Mall. We do not have a permit so we cannot stop, make speeches cause trouble with traffic etc. We can however walk around the mall, capitol, WH, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument etc with signs indicating who we are, where from, etc. I would suggest we make the top of the posterboard identifiable with a large "Unemployed Friends" on it so we can see each other and gather. We would become a larger party and gain more attention. Again, it would be like a tourist visiting, keep walking, keep walking but be visible around WH and Capitiol so that we are noticed.

Those of you that can not be at the march must call right away

They will definably pass the bill when they come back in the middle of July and give them the 99 weeks because it would not be fair because of the ones that got it already , but what happens when they become 99ers also ? their going to have millions and millions of 99ers still without jobs because there are only 1 for every 6 Americans ? , Don't be fooled they can make money appear out of thin air but not for the ones who live in America and voted for them ! ACTIONS speak louder than words , Let the Riots begin now !!!!!!!!!!!!
