Update: This following report offers some information about The Americans Want to Work Act and Ed Schultz's contacts with Sen. Stabenow. This report is not intended as Senate parliamentary procedures course. The main point of the following article is to show that there are a number of people who are trying to help push forward The Americans Want to Work Act for the benefit of 99ers – unemployment benefit exhaustees. Any Senate procedures and rules mentioned below are those heard directly from the sources. If you are interested in additional information on Senate rules and procedures, please see: http://rules.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=RulesOfSenateHome.
This is an update to the story that’s developing around Ed Schultz and his contact with Sen. Debbie Stabenow. On Ed Schultz’s radio broadcast today, Ed Schultz reiterated that Sen. Stabenow WILL bring The Americans Want to Work Act to the Senate floor this week. He said that he had a lengthy conversation with Sen. Stabenow and he received a commitment from her to bring The Americans Want to Work Act to the Senate.
According to Ed Schultz, Sen. Stabenow has been very disappointed about the bill not yet being passed. I did call Sen. Stabenow’s office and her staff couldn’t confirm Ed’s statement, but they said that the bill is currently in the Finance Committee and Sen. Stabenow is looking at avenues to get the bill to the floor.
It’s my opinion that Ed wouldn’t have mentioned this on his radio show if he wasn’t confident in the bill moving forward.
I was informed that the straw that broke the camel’s back for Ed was the 99er NOVO movement. According to Donalee King:
Ed has expressed a great deal of concern over the impact disenfranchised voters, like the 99er NOVOs would have on the midterm elections. Last week, Ed announced on the radio his determination to change the minds of those who had planned to sit out this election, unless the Americans Want to Work Act was brought to the Senate floor.
You can read more about this issue and Donalee King’s conversation with 99er advocate Rob Curtis at http://www.examiner.com/unemployment-in-san-diego/ed-schultz-confirms-s3706-will-get-senate-attention-this-week.
In my opinion, it’s obvious that 99er’s unrelenting efforts with contacting their representatives through emails, phone calls, letters and fax-attacks; the 99er hardship stories in the media, 99er advocacy efforts, the UWAG Wall Street rally, the upcoming One Nation Working Together rally (they are supporting the passage of S.3706) and all other 99er efforts played a significant role in keeping the 99er story alive. Without those many efforts, the 99er story would have been lost in the media noise machine. Yet as with many other tragic situations, it’s that one unacceptable moment that glues all those efforts together into one, and that glue appears to have been Ed Schultz’s reaction to the 99er NOVO movement.
Mike here: I spoke to Rob Curtis and he was excited that Ed discussed his conversation with Sen. Debbie Stabenow and bringing The Americans Want to Work Act to the Senate floor on his radio show. Rob is of the opinion that if Sen. Stabenow brings her 99er legislation to the Senate floor this week and fights for its passage, that the 99er NOVO movement will immediately be suspended and all efforts will be put behind the election of congressional representatives that support the passage of The Americans Want to Work Act.
If you would like to thank Ed Schultz for his tireless efforts, you can send him a note at https://www.wegoted.com/emailEd/.
Having The Americans Want to Work Act get to this point in the conversation is no small feat and while there will be Republican and Ben Nelson roadblocks ahead, it’s a situation that at least offers a sense of hopefulness. Many are doubtful and skeptical of this legislation being passed and that's understandable, since the unemployed have been burned before when good news turned to bad. But this is a developing story that should be taken seriously and not simply rejected out-of-hand.
One Nation Working Together rally
Ed Schultz will be attending the One Nation Working Together rally in Washington D.C. on October 2. His support at that rally is evidence of his dedication to the American worker and the unemployed.
Attend the rally in spirit
If you want to be part of the rally, but can’t attend for obvious reasons, I will be creating some posters/placards that will have the names and addresses the unemployed who want to be there in spirit. These posters will be carried by me and other 99er representatives and advocates in the rally. Send your information; name, address (at least city and state) to mike@layofflist.org. You may also include a photo and/or your unemployment story. I have received a number of letters already and ONWT has agreed to provide posters.

Bringing the Bill to the floor and actually have a vote on it are two completely different things.
Any Senator can speak about whatever they want each day during the morning session. Technically, this would be "bringing it to the floor."
A HUGE thing to keep in mind... Stabenow's introduction of S 3706 completely killed the 1st 99er rally. Now, right before the 2nd 99er rally, she is slinging out more false hope. It truly looks like an attempt to kill the 2nd 99er rally. The timing is just way too convenient.
The Dems, by killing these rallies, can keep the media aspect off of the 99ers... while at the same time, make it appear to the 99ers that they are trying to help us. So they gain the votes of the 99ers, while they don't lose votes by actually doing anything for the 99ers. And it is very clear that they believe doing anything to actually help the 99ers would cost them votes... or they would have been pushing for a Tier V a long time ago.
This is politics at its dirtiest.
These Dems truly need to be voted out. They act like it is the GOP that is blocking everything, but if you truly look at what has happened, that isn't the case. For every unemployed extension that the Dems passed (with GOP opposition), the GOP had offered up amendments and companion Bills to change the way the extensions would be funded.
The Dems never even held a vote on any of these amendments or companion Bills, they just down right dismissed them. The Dems didn't even try to compromise; for example, meet the GOP halfway when it came to how to pay for them by offering up a Bill that would use 1/2 of what the GOP wanted and 1/2 Deficit spending.
Since Obama has taken office, it has been pass what the Dems propose or nothing. I repeat, they wouldn't even let the GOP amendments and companion Bills go to a vote! It's been the Dems way or no way.
Yet the GOP are seen as the Obstruction. Absurd.
Do your research about this, not just reading the headline stories, and you'll see that I am correct.
The Dems are the true Obstructionist.
If the media did their jobs better, you would already know this.
How many of you read that the GOP voted against repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT)? How many of you read that the DREAM act (immigration reform) was also in the same Bill? Almost every media source conveniently left that part out, and ran it as a separate article, making it look like it was in a different Bill.
By including the DREAM act in the same Bill as repealing DADT, the Dems set it up not to pass on purpose. It was nothing more than a campaign ploy to make the GOP look bad right before midterms. Yet the media doesn't report these things... you have to do the research yourself.
Voting for the Dems this midterm is equal to saying you like things the way they have been for the past 2 years.
Fred Madden-
It is too convenient for you to talk negative about the Democrats efforts, especially in trying to pass "The Americans Want to Work Act" (S.3706), when you are unemployed and living at home with Mommy and Daddy. Sell off all your things and move to a shelter. I am sure you will see things differently.
Best to all 99rs!
-Peter
Peter, what the hell are you talking about? There has been no effort on the Democrats part to pass S 3706. It was hastily written and introduced without going through the normal process. Normally it would have gone through the CBO first (Congressional Budget Office) to have all the financial requirements taken care of, i.e., what it would cost and how it would be funded.
But this Bill didn't follow normal procedures, so it was introduced and then passed on to the Finance Committee on August 4th. And Reid has yet to ask the Finance Committee to work on it. So it has just sat in limbo there.
The Democrats have done absolutely nothing except introduce S 3706. There has been no effort, whatsoever, on their part to push this Bill forwards.
How does me living at home with my parents as opposed living in a shelter change any of these facts?
Fred..I couldn't agree with you more. The unemployed aren't as stupid as they used to be. Proposed bills which sit ignored for 2 months are an insult & don't deserve a vote. Those in office (both parties) are a disgrace to humanity as far as I'm concerned.
People like freddy ASSume that anyone supporting Democrats haven't looked deeper than headlines when it's his own ignorant reactionary flock who can only digest soundbytes of 10 secs or less. Voting for the Dems this midterm is saying you can remember further back than 2 years, and you DON'T FALL FOR CONSERVATIVE LIES ANYMORE. Gee, why continue improving healthcare, finance reform and growing the economy when we could go back to that F-ing train wreck that disgusting pseudo-intellectuals like you ramble on about like it's your glory days. I'll take the last 2 years over the previous 8 , where your team started wars for oil, feed Cheney's corruption pile, and tortured people never charged with a crime in the name of your self-righteous patriotism. FUCK YOU.And the horse you rode in on. :)
@sick, thanks for saying it for me, cause I've been feelin it, but just couldnt bring myself to! Have a nice day!
@Sick of the Right, please explain to me how Bush caused our current economic crisis? Starting wars only adds to the Deficit, it doesn't hurt our economy.
President Clinton is the one the is to blame for our current economy. He repealed the Glass-Steagal Act which allowed banks to bundle and trade mortgages as commodities. This, 100% by itself, led to the Housing Bubble and then to the Sub-Prime Mortgage Crisis when the Bubble burst... the main reason our economy has tanked, and tanked so hard.
You make it sound like you are so well read and have "looked deeper into the headlines", yet your best effort to make me look bad is just by bad mouthing me? LOL
Try throwing back some facts that prove what I've said is wrong. That is how you make someone, other than yourself, look like they are full of crap.
Or are you well read and know that you can't counter what I have had to say because it is all true? :)
fRED you are a MOLE And a b_tch as well always needing the last word, SHUT UP MOLE MOLE MOLE!!!
Fred is absolutely right - the GOP has offered alternatives.
@Sick, you're worried about a future train wreck if Republicans get control of Congress, but what about the current train wreck with Democrats controlling Congress?
This Democrat Congress REFUSES TO AID MILLIONS OF TRAIN WRECK VICTIMS. They try not to even talk about it.
Anon is fred he almost got this sight shut down! he has even made comments to that effect when they were doing upgrades, (he even said he was responsable for it) he was lol ing about it in previous p[osts from past articles! MIKE THIS GUY IS A MOLE!!!!!

Stabenow does not have the authority to bring the unemployment extension to the floor, only harry reid can allow 3706 to be voted on.
Until Harry Reid of Nevada ends his filibuster against 3706 we will continue to suffer.
If harry reid will not allow for a vote on 3706 before the election we will not vote for him.
If the other members of the senate were serious about helping us they could refuse to pass any billls until a vote on 3706 takes place, 3706 could be added as an amendment to any other bill such as the defense appropriations bill or the continuing resolution bill that must be passed by september 30th to keep the government from shutting down october 1, that means it would only take 5 (maybe less) democrats, with the resolve to stand their ground to support us, to guarantee the passage of 3706. how hard can it be to find 5 democrats willing to help us, the support of 5 democrats would guarantee the passage of 3706 before the election.
If there is no vote on 3706 before the election every member of the senate up or election will join the ranks of the unemployed regardless of party affiliation.
The unemployed have been forced to be one issue voters, we will vote for anyone that votes to support us , and will vote against all that do not help us.
If 3706 is not voted on beffore the senates leaves for the election we will be forced to vote against all incumbents
Most elections are decided by the independent voters, this year it will be decided by the unemployed; for example in Nevada (harry reids home state) there are more unemployed then there are independent voters we get to decide who gets to go back to Washington.
how hard ca it be to find 5 democrats willing to help us, that is all we need, the support of 5 democrats would guarantee the passage of 3706 before the election.
First of all, you have it backwards, Republican votes need to be found for S 3706, because they would filibuster. Then it takes 60 votes to break a filibuster, not just 51 votes that are normally required to pass a Bill. Reid's "filibuster" isn't a true filibuster, it is just a refusal to bring it to a vote.
Secondly, because the Dems are all over the place in where they stand now, because of elections, we no longer can count on having all but Senator Nelson's (D-NE) vote. The Dems, facing what should be major losses during midterms, have really changed where they stand. Some are actually campaigning along GOP lines of no more Deficit spending. So, again, we really can't count on them voting along Party lines in what will be one of their last votes before midterms.
And finally, us 99ers are so unorganized, that not passing S 3706 before midterms is going to throw our votes both ways. Some 99ers see the Dems as the good guys and vice-versa. As you can tell from my previous post (the first one of this article), I state some of the reasons why the Dems are the bad guys and need to voted out. The sad thing is that at least half the 99ers would disagree with me. Which means we will be canceling each others votes.
So, by no means, are the 99ers going to be deciding who wins these midterms (or else the Dems would have passed a Tier V a long time ago). Some see the Dems as those that have been trying to help us. Some, like me, see the GOP as being ignored by the Dems, so have played midterm campaign politics for almost a year straight, and will vote GOP. And then there are the 99ers that are planning on voting against any incumbent (the stance we should have unified together on, but didn't).
This reply is to Fred Madden. I think 99ers are organized; they just have some trouble with whiplash from all of the platitudes tossed around by Senators who refuse to follow through on a bill they actually sponsored!
Democrats, including sponsors of The Americans Want to Work Act, clearly want to do as little as possible for their constituents while hoping those same constituents mindlessly show up anyway and cast a vote for them. Unfortunately for them, 99ers and their friends and families have been misled by Harry Reid and other S.3706 sponsors for so long that they are now more savvy to the political games. But I have no doubt that if S.3706 were passed, NOVOs would show up en masse and show their support.
Harry Reid is at fault here. He is a cosponsor of The Americans Want to Work Act, and he has the sixty votes needed, when we include Senators Snowe and Collins. What we need is for Democrats to act sincerely on the behalf of 99ers before the recess.
MSNBC reported that DE, IL and WV are senate special elections, and that the winner will be seated the week of the election. WV and Il are expected to go to the GOP, per Realclearpolitics. But the writing is on the wall. Senate Democrats need the votes of 99ers and their friends and families, and 99ers need S.3706 passed before November. It really is no more complicated than that. And no one can blame any 99er who refuses to drive to a poll to support an elected official who did not stand up for him or her. If Democrats manage to blow this, they will have no one to blame but themselves after the midterms for what will surely follow.
Until Harry Reid of Nevada ends his filibuster against 3706 we will continue to suffer
I just called Harry's office and was told there no info on the bill ,and other bills were already ahead of it. WTF
You know, I think I can understand the game both sides are playing. It does nothing for any of us and it is a calculated risk as to how many votes will be lost or cast for the other party.
If you watch Cspan you will probably hear an impassioned speach from Stabenow sometime this week. This is intended obviously to hold on to Dem votes and possibly even get Fred M. to change his mind. HA HA. You know Fred if you hadn't blown all your UI benefits on drugs you could have gotten your dream job at McDonalds by now. HAHAHA. Sorry man but I don't underrstand the "Log Cabin Republicans" either.
Anyway, I don't see much happening until the election as we are definitely in the DON'T MOVE, DON'T GET HURT!!! mindset of the silly season.
@RBINTN, please explain to me how the 99ers are organized? We don't have the funding to wine and dine Congress for votes via a lobbyist. This means that we have to take a unified stand of how we will vote.
In just reading this comments on just this page alone, it is obvious that we don't have a unified stance on how we will vote.
Also, as I explained above, we no longer can count on all the Dem votes (minus Nelson's) and the two GOP Senators from Maine, Collins and Snowe. It is too close to midterms. They now have to vote on the personal campaign stance, not their Party's stance. And if you haven't noticed, most Dems have been distancing themselves from Obama. (To really see how true this is, notice that not a single Dem is campaigning on the fact that they voted in favor of ObamaCare.) Many Dems are campaigning against any more Deficit spending too. So a vote to pass S 3706, assuming it would be funded by Deficit spending, would allow their running mates to use this against them as being hypocrites. (For the record, since nothing has been done with S 3706, no one know how they plan to fund it yet.)
@Indie, Both Reid and Pelosi have held fast that there will not be a vote on any unemployment benefits of any sort (even just filing extensions) until after the midterm elections. They aren't going to change their stance now with just 3-4 days left before they adjourn... and don't reconvene until Nov. 15th.
@OldandOverQualified, yeah, both side are playing campaign politics. The GOP had the advantage of starting theirs back in January since the Dems have refused to compromise on any single thing. Hence, the Bill passed back in November that added Tiers 3 and 4 was passed 98-0 (2 Dems not voting). Since then, the GOP stance has been zero Deficit spending... and they have strongly stuck to it.
The Dems have been planning on the GOP's "Obstructionist" stance to backfire and work in the Dems favor, which has led them not to compromise on any Bill. What they failed to realize, until a few weeks ago, when they offered to compromise on a Bill (which the GOP flat out said, too late, wait until after midterms) was that the Economy is in such bad shape, and getting worse, that their plan backfired. Now they really don't know what to do and the GOP is going to take control of the House... and also have a slight chance of taking the Senate too. (O'Donnell really through a wrench in that Delaware Senate race... which definitely would have been a GOP victory had she not won the primary.)
And LOL, yeah, I expect to see Stabenow, and maybe a few other Dems, in the morning session speaking about how bad we need a Tier V... yet, nothing will happen until midterms are over.
At this point in time, we can only hope that once midterms are over, they drop campaign politics and pass a Tier V and filing extensions during the lame duck session. But the GOP has been campaigning against passing any large Bills during the lame duck session since July... because they knew then that would more than likely sweep the Dems out of Congress come midterms.
MOLE ALLERT< MOLE ALERT, MOLE ALERT
Sorry to say yes they will allow the government to shut down it happen in 1995, I work for a contractor for the federal government and we went home twice that year, read below. I cut paste just part of the website.
The 1995 shutdown of the United States federal government was a major political crisis in which the U.S. federal government, as a result of a failure to pass a budget bill, stayed nonessential services from November 14 through November 19, 1995 and from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996. The major players were Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich.
When the previous fiscal year ended September 30, the president and the Republican-controlled Congress hadn't passed a budget. Congress wanted additional cuts in Medicare, Medicaid, education, environmental controls, and the EITC, the budget. The difference in opinion resulted from differing estimates of economic growth, medical inflation, and anticipated revenues.[1]
To keep the government running in times of deficit, it is necessary to increase the limit of debt that the Treasury Department is authorized to accrue. In response to Clinton's unwillingness to make the budget cuts that the Republicans wanted, Newt Gingrich threatened to refuse to raise the debt limit, putting the country in default, which would presumably have had political consequences for Clinton.
Since Gingrich expected Clinton to fold, the result was a game of chicken between the two. Economically, the result would be a shaking investor confidence and higher interest rates, which would increase the cost of borrowing money.[1]
Since a new budget hadn't been approved, October 1 started with the entire federal government running on continuing resolution, which authorizes funding for departments until new budgets are approved. The existing continuing resolution was set to expire on November 13 at midnight, at which point non-essential government services would be forced to be shut down in order to prevent the country from defaulting on its debt. Congress made many attempts to pass their cuts, which Clinton denounced as "backdoor efforts".[1]

Just finished certifying, I've been doing it relentlessly since March, every 2 weeks, just so my number counts in the unemployment rate! It seems like a waste to bother and I know alot of states wont even let you continue to certify after your benefits have expired! I hope those that are in states that allow this, continue thier certification so they are counted as well! The ones that cant because that state wont allow it are at a higher rate then they tell you, thats why no states should be left behind if/when this bill passes! Time to tell the senators again! Thanks for the updates Mike, God Bless All!!!
Per MSNBC, 3 special elections, in DE, IL, and WV, will result in the immediate seating of the winner. We all know what the end result will be if the Tea Party candidate wins in DE or either of the two others goes Republican. WV and IL, according to Realclearpolitics, have the Republican Senate candidate in the lead. Even with Senators Snowe and Collins, without Senators Ben Nelson and the two from WV and IL, it may be all over for 99ers on election night. If we really want S.3706 to pass for American 99ers, our families and loved ones, we must not settle for further platitudes from Senate Democrats. We must act NOW!
We should refuse to stand up for elected officials who refuse to stand up for 99ers or stand in the way-- we owe our fellow Americans no less. But if this bill really gets to the floor and has a vote before the recess, we should work to get out the vote for those who support it with the same vigor that we are employing now in our attempts to get this passed.
Hey RBINTN, I've been sending out my mass e-mails along with my single ones to my personal state senators and WH comment line! This is so important, I cant believe that its taking so long, I'm scared for those that wont be able to heat thier homes or feel ashamed for not providing a Christmas for thier families! I am fortunate that a friend has taken me and my son in and is letting me ride out this storm! I am humbled having lost almost everything and grateful for Gods mercy! Keep the faith, God Bless!
StevinMI, I don't get it either-- unless Democrats are cynically waiting to vote until the last minute so the passage of S.3706 is fresh in the minds of voters. I hope we are not just witnessing yet another platitude and empty promise from Senator Stabenow, but your input will definitely help. If you follow this post consistently, you may know that I'm from Detroit, and definitely feel for people back home in MI. Good luck, and don't give up yet! I am keeping up my faxes and emails, too, since November will be too late for 99ers.
I just called Harry's office and was told there no info on the bill ,and other bills were already ahead of it. WTF
That's why they call him DIRTY HARRY and she Botox Nancy
Senator Stabenow is a liar!
She lied to us, She played on our fears!
Remember Obama's words the stimulus will keep the unemployment rate below 8%. Obama is Jimmy Carter on Steroids

I WILL NOW BE VOTING DEMOCRAT! If nothing was done then NO I wouldn't be voting. COME ON PEOPLE!!! Its common sense we threaten their elections this whole time and in response THE DEMOCRATS CREATED "American want to work Act" IF THEY GET IT PASSED before election "please God" GREAT! I will vote that party. BUT if they cant get passed till after elections!! WELL GEUSS WHAT WE NEED TO VOTE TO KEEP THE PARTY IN THATS HELPING US!!! IF REPUBLICANS TAKE CONTROL I don't think it will pass!!!!
SO the whole point of us saying vote indepent or not at all was to try and get them to do something
THE DEMOCRATS HAVE EARNED OUR VOTES!
Let me reiterate if WE DONT VOTE DEMOCRATS IN the REPUBLICANS WILL HAVE CONTROL AND WE WILL BE SCREWED. With "Americans Want To Work Act."
IM VOTING THE PARTY WHO IS ATTEMPTING TO SAVE MY HOME RIGHT NOW!
VOTE DEMOCRATS "AMERICANS WANT TO WORK ACT"
What you fail to realize is that the Dems haven't moved a muscle to pass S 3706 or HR 6091.
So how do you see them as helping us so much?
And for long term 99ers, like me, that stopped receiving benefits in March, not even the 3 filing extensions passed this year has helped.
The last vote that helped me receive benefits passed with 100% of the Republicans voting Yes in the Senate. Granted, every Dem vote cast was a Yes too (2 Dems didn't vote).
So I don't see how any long time 99er can think that the Dems have helped them... or that the GOP has hurt them. Basically, Congress and Obama has done nothing for us. (Obama hasn't even mentioned unemployment benefits since July.)
Both Parties sucks... but the ones with the power, the Dems, are the ones that could help us, and they haven't. So you plan on voting for more of the same? I just don't get it.
The Democrates haven't done anything to get my vote. Anyone can introduce a bill and then ignore it. They intentionally didn't even try to take it further. Stringing desperate people along just to get re-elected...how sad that's now considered "Earning a Vote".
This is why the unemployed will have no voice in this election. We're gullible, scared to death & unable to get organized. Perfect climate for more of the same. Greed, power and re-election.
Go push your DemoCrap stuff somewhere else.
The Dems have driven this country into debt so far we may never recover.
The Kool Aid is coming out of your pores.
THE DEMOCRATS HAVE CONTROLLED THE CONGRESS SINCE 2006, TWO YEARS BEFORE BUSH LEFT. THE DEMOCRATS CAUSED THE ECONOMY TO GO DOWN. BARNEY FRANK AND FANNIE MAE IS ANOTHER REASON.
I was watching MSNBC earlier they showed a chart that showed how unemployment rose in 2001 when they first implemented the Bush tax cuts, we have never recovered! It doesn't seem like coinsidence when you look at the chart! I wonder what all went into that bill that adopted the tax cuts! Dems were not in power, now thier running scared because the deficit that the GOP (dont) care about (unless they can use it as a political issue, which they are)! The filthy rich dont care about the deficit unless they have to help pay for it!
Again, this time MSNBC, is a perfect example of selective news media not giving the whole picture.
In 2001, the Dot Com Bubble burst and caused a minor recession. The Bush Tax Cuts were put in place to help counter the effects of the Dot Com Bubble bursting. The economy started showing great signs of recovering from that minor recession.
Then the completely unexpected happend... 9/11. It completely wiped out all economic gains and shortly led to us starting 2 wars.
This is why unemployment rose in 2001. The Tax Cuts kept the rise in unemployment from being higher than what it could have been.
Did MSNBC mention any of this?
Where did the comments after fRED went, THEY WERE SPOT ON! He thinks he knows something and throwing distortion about, friggin republi-cant........................... MOLE!!!!!
Its simple I vote for the PARTY who have created "Americans Want to Work Act" so I may keep the roof over my head
or
I dont vote and neither do some of you who are stating this and I personally end up loosing my home after 16 yrs and end up homeless along with MILLIONS in MY SAME SITUATION
I dont know about you BUT Im voting to save my home and voting to save millions of others who are on their last leg as well. I dont want to loose my home and I sure dont want millions of other familys and children to have to suffer because I didnt vote and the wrong party got in.
I went to a rally a couple of weeks ago and we started talking politics and she opened my eyes to a lot of things. She told me to vote for the party that I felt helped me the most. I honestly felt like neither one cares because we as unemployed don't have the money to buy their votes. I mean if we could throws millions of dollars their way then they would be knocking down our doors but where are they now. I mean do they even really care or is a trap to get our vote. I have heard about a possible Tier V for months but even if it passed it doesn't help me because the state I live in doesn't qualify. I have already lost everyting so what do I have to gain. I honestly don't see a reason to vote this time. Good luck to those who may see help from this bill because I don't.
Obama already gave 30 billion to the teachers now more.

THE DEMOCRATS HAVE CONTROLLED THE CONGRESS SINCE 2006, TWO YEARS BEFORE BUSH LEFT. THE DEMOCRATS CAUSED THE ECONOMY TO GO DOWN. BARNEY FRANK AND FANNIE MAE IS ANOTHER REASON.
All I care about is my self. I will provide for my self and make sure I work hard enough to provide for me and my family. Any one hanging on for over 99 weeks of unemployment is crazy. Your efforts would be better served at finding work. Politicans are slime balls, all of them. Tier 5 ha
WE R STILL LOOKIN< WE HAVE BEEN OUT OF BENEFITS SINCE MARCH!!!!! WHY DID THEY ALLOW OVER130 WEEKS OF BENEFITS OVER REAGAN WHEN THE ECONOMY WAS NOTHING AS BAD AS IT IS NOW!!!!!! YOU FRIGGIN REPUBLI_CANTS ARE TRYING YOUR SCARE TACTICS TO GET US NOT TO VOTE OR TO VOTE GOP!!! WERE NOT THAT STUPID >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MOLES!!!
That's because it was under Reagan, the 130 weeks...Obama is weak..
I see nothing new on the senate site about s.3706
I cannot believe the government. What the hell are they thinking. People are losing everything they own and to not have a vote till after the election will mean suicide for some of them. They are helping other countries and letting the Americans live in tents. Harry Reid is definitely out of there come elections. We need to turn to the Lord for guidance. Democrats to stuff 20 bills into post-election lame-duck session:

"Democratic leaders also view an extension of unemployment insurance benefits and a freeze in scheduled cuts to doctors’ Medicare reimbursements as must-pass legislation.
Lawmakers could spend much of the lame-duck session haggling over these two expensive proposals, which sucked up weeks of time in the Senate earlier this year.
Thousands of laid-off workers will begin to lose unemployment benefits after Nov. 30, and doctors are scheduled to see a 23 percent cut in Medicare reimbursements on Dec. 1. "

GOVO Indies and dems NO MORE, GRAND OBSTRUCTIONIST... REPUBLI-CANTS!!!!! Bush suks
I have been without benefits for quite some time now and 3706 offers me no hope. I do hope that it is passed so that others get the help they desperately need, but watching people on the message boards degrade each other is making me want to just walk away and say to hell with all this nonsense. Giving a man crap because he lost everything and had to move in with his parents is just sad and does no one any good. Saying that someone spent all their UI benefits on drugs is just trying to start a fight. Times are hard and they will stay that way. The only thing we can do is just keep looking for work and hoping for the best. Turning on each other because we do not all agree on who is at fault for our situation is not helping anyone. Even though this bill will not help me I have done everything I can to force the issue, but when I come to this site and read these posts with people lashing out I just want to shut down the computer and say to hell with it all. No matter what happens I am voting and already know how I am voting. I know by researching politicians and calling them who has done what and who refuses to help. If you really want to know where someone stands, do not tell them you are unemployed, do not tell them you want the bill to pass. Ask them a series of questions about things that concern you without any emotion and sneak in the unemployment questions without any emotion and see what is said. Then you will know how they feel. Obviously you all have the internet, go look to see how people vote, check their websites see what they are saying. Base your votes on your own thorough research not off something you read on a message board or something you hear on TV. Instead of arguing over what people spent their UI benefits on or putting them down, post links to informative websites on how these politicians are voting, what they are saying and so on.

I wish someone would do some investigative reporting on why the senate finance committee is dragging their feet on it. We need names, numbers and testimonies from them on why they are not doing their job.
Everyone on that committee needs to be voted out, letters and phone calls need to be written demanding their resignation. This is obscene torture that they still after two months have it still in committee with absolutely no word on it.
CALL THE COMMITTEE, GET INTERVIEWS, GET NAMES OF WHO YOU TALK TO AND WHAT THEY SAY, TIME TO PUT THESE PEOPLE ON RECORD! THEY ARE PUBLIC FIGURES! DOCUMENT THIS TIME IN HISTORY!
I’m sure this time like all things in life will pass, but it needs to be documented on who the cruel people are. Their political careers need to stop here and they need to get a job at McDonalds as they like to say. Good luck finding one!
